4.4.8 Encoder replacement (CHT-71A)<br />

[Required tools]<br />

• A Phillips screwdriver for 4 mm screws<br />

• A Phillips screwdriver for 5 mm screws<br />

• Single-ended wrench (width across flats 7 mm<br />

for M4 bolts)<br />

• Tools for removing the cover from the scanner<br />

unit (see Section 4.4.1, page 4-46)<br />

[Replacement procedure]<br />

1) Open the upper cover (see Section 4.4.1, page 4-46) to remove the transmitter-receiver<br />

unit (see Section 4.4.2, page 4-47).<br />

2) Remove the two screws (M4) holding the<br />

encoder to remove it from the housing.<br />

3) Remove the metal fixture and the gear wheel<br />

attached to the encoder. Put them onto the new<br />

encoder and put the encoder back into the unit.<br />

4) After replacing the encoder, follow the<br />

disassembly procedure in the reverse order.<br />

Do not forget to tighten the screws and connect<br />

the cables.<br />

[Check points]<br />

1) Turn on the radar power supply. After the countdown is completed, start emission and<br />

check that the radar image appears without error.Open the serviceman menu to perform<br />

bearing adjustment (Refer to Section 7.1.4 of the instruction manual).<br />
