6. REVERSI. This is played on a board of 102 cells and begins

like Go. Whenever one player can surround a set of

hostile pieces lying in any orthogonal or diagonal line of

consecutive cells by putting a piece of his own at either end,

the pieces thus captured are replaced by his own. The winner

is the one who has the greater number of pieces on the

board at the end.

7. JINX. This game was contributed by Mr. Ling. It is

played on a table of thirteen columns of numbers arranged

numbers desired in the first (uppermost) line. Pieces are

then placed on the same numbers in any other desired lines.

(For example, a player may select the numbers 1,3,8,12 and

the rows 1,2,4. Then the numbers 1,3,8, 12 in the first and

second rows, and the numbers 1, 3, 8 in the fourth row are

covered.)

When the pieces have been placed we play with them as

follows: If a column contains an even number of pieces,

half of them are removed and the other half are put in the

next column to the right. If the column contains an ond
