units. The strength of a stack on a black cell is twice, and
of a stack on a red cell is three times, the strength of the same
stack on a white cell. Thus the strength of a stack is always
represented by one of the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9.

Those of one player are white, those of the other, black.
When the game begins, White has his pieces on cells 1 to 18
(one piece to a cell), and Black has his similarly placed on
cells 44 to 61. The players play alternately, each moving a
single stack (or piece) as far as he wishes, within the range
of the stack, along a straight line in one of the permitted directions.
He may move all his stack or only part of it, but
the range and strength of the stack is determined by the
number of pieces in the part of the stack that is actually
