moved. He may not jump any occupied cell. He may land

on an empty cell, on a cell occupied by a stack of his own or

(subject to the rules for attack given in the next paragraph)

on a cell occupied by an enemy stack. If the cell to which

he moves contains a stack of his own, the two stacks are combined

to form a single stack of (possibly) increased strength

and range. If the cell to which he moves is occupied by an

enemy stack, he has attacked the enemy stack, and the disposition

of the pieces is made according to the rules in the

next paragraph.

A stack may attack an enemy stack if and only if its combat

strength is greater than that of the enemy. If it is more

than twice as strong it is said to kill the enemy by removing

permanently from play and from the board all hostile pieces

in the stack, and adding all friendly pieces to itself. Pieces

thus added increase the range and strength of the attacking

stack, if that is possible. If the attacking stack is stronger

than the enemy without being more than twice as strong, it

is said to capture the opposing stack, by combining it with

itself. In this case only the friendly pieces are counted in

determining the range and strength of the resulting stack.

H an attack is possible it must be made, though the player

attacking is free to choose anyone of a set of possible alternative

attacks. Not more than one attack may be made in a

single turn.

The game ends with the killing or capture of all pieces of

one of the players.

The Game for Three Players. Each player has 11 pieces

and the pieces of the different players are colored white,

black, and red. Initially White's pieces are placed on cells 1

to 11; Black's on cells 19,27,28,36,37,44,45,51,52,57,58;

and Red's on cells 60, 61, 55, 56, 49, 50, 42, 43, 34, 35, 26.

The players' turns rotate in the order White, Black, Red.

The rules are the same as for the game for two, except at the
