Like the scenes on the side, these motifs are workedin repousse from the inside; chased and engraveddetails decorate the outside. The raised motifs andchased outlines are gilded, while the silver groundbehind them is stippled so that they stand out evenmore clearly against it. The third casket is of plainsilver. Next are two caskets decorated with figuraldesigns: the fourth with preaching scenes of fourBuddhas, each associated with one of the fourdirections; the fifth illustrates Esoteric deities. Thesixth and seventh caskets have no figural designs,but are encrusted with pearls and semipreciousstones. Finally, the eighth container, a mere twoinches in height, is not a casket but a tiny singlestorypagoda fashioned out of solid gold; therelic fingerbone rested on a silver post.
