FewzaZe. Length 4 mm.; wing 4 mm. Proboscis slender, black.
Occiput black, sparsely clothed with very narrow, pale scales, and
long, black, erect, forked scales; cheeks with broader, white, flat
scales. Mesonotum reddish-brown, with two narrow, longitudinal
bare lines, and a curving bare line each side of the antescutellar
space ; vestiture of numerous hair-like bronzy-orown to blask scales
and rows of black setae, the setae long and stout on the posterior
portion. Abdomen black, basal segmental yellowish white bands in-
dicated on some of the segments, widening on the sides to small
patches ; each segment with an apical row of coarse yellow hairs.
Wing scales all brown to black. Legs black.
Male hypopygiuw. (Fig. 1, PI. XVII.) Side-pieces twice as long
as wide, gradually tapering; apical lobe absent; basal lobe sharply
conical, setose, the apex bearing 4-5 stout, long spines. Clasper slen-
der, slightly enlarged at the base. Claspettes absent. Mesosome
stout, cylindrical, pointed at apex. The two lateral chitinous plates
form a somewhat conical cylinder, widely open on the venter and
open on the dorsum except near the apex where the plates come
close together, but do not fuse. At the base the plates fuse on the
dorsum. Lobes of ninth tergite, small, each with a group of long
setae.
