CNC Code in DMIS Format The calculated measurement path plan is generally prepared in a proper CNC code format such as DMIS. DMIS (Dimensional Measuring Interface Specification) code 13 is a widely accepted machine code for bidirectional communication of inspection data between computer systems and inspection equipment. The specification is a vocabularary of terms establishing a neutral format for inspection programs and inspection results data. The DMIS vocabularary is similar in syntax to the APT NC programming language, with major and minor words separated by slashes. There are two basic types of DMIS

The process oriented commands consist of motion and machine parameter statements, as well as other statements unique to the inspection process itself. DMIS vocabulary consists of ASCII characters which are combined to form words, labels, parameters, and variables. Table 4.2 shows a typical CNC code for measuring a turbine blade in DMIS format. 4.5 Error Evaluation In this section, the measurement results are fed back to the computer and error analysis is performed for the features inspected. The error evaluation algorithms are explained for the sculptured surfaces and the basic features.
