Case Study: Aircraft Wingbox <strong>Design</strong><br />

A case study involving the structural design of an aircraft wingbox in the proposed Integrated CAD/FEM<br />

system is described in this section. Figure 1.4 describes the information flow, along with the different<br />

phases of design analysis in the Integrated CAD/FEM system during the design of the aircraft wingbox<br />

structure. The Integrated CAD/FEM system assumes the role of an intelligent structural design system<br />

and the end product of the design process is a result of cooperative design efforts between different<br />

symbolic and numerical analysis tools.<br />
