in each setup and to generate optimal and collision-free paths for the probe.<br />

5. The final task is to synthesize the plan and generate the inspection program in a neutral programming<br />

language such as DMIS for the CMM.<br />

A framework for the computer-aided inspection planning system for the CMM (CAIPS-CMM) is<br />

shown in Figure 2.22. The input to the CAIPS-CMM is a product model that carries features, solids and<br />

GD&T information. The output of the system is the CMM inspection program in DMIS format.<br />
