With this in mind, I think that Efacec will continue its path of success, developing even further, namely in the international markets. Lastly, with the end of my duties as CEO, I would like to highlight the main objectives that were reached by the company during the time that I performed that role (2007-2010). • Sales went from EUR 370 million at the beginning of 2007 to EUR 1034 million by the end of 2010, almost tripling the initial value; • The increase in sales was made at an average rate of about 30% per year (despite the biggest worldwide fi nancial and economic crisis of the last 80 years); • The percentage of Sales in International Markets went from 38% to 66.6%; 10 • The company’s profi ts, measured by the EBITDA indicator, more than doubled during this period; • Nearly 1650 people were hired, out of which 860 (most of them young graduates) have a degree. Together, we have all contributed to the achievement of important goals for Efacec and also, dare I say it, for the country. Nowadays, Efacec is among the largest Portuguese export companies (with a high national value added) and has been a very important employer, especially for young graduates at the start of their careers. For all these reasons, I wish to thank everyone who contributed to the success of Efacec and say how proud and honoured I am to have had the opportunity to lead this wonderful team. In accordance with the current laws and regulations, the Board of Directors of Efacec Capital, SGPS, S.A. presents its Annual Report and Accounts concerning the year of 2010. This Society is the main company of a corporate group that includes several companies in Portugal and abroad, which carry out numerous activities. This document presents the most important events and highlights some situations that we consider to be important in the Group’s performance. It must be mentioned that in this exercise, Efacec’s Board of Directors decided to present in one single report not only the information concerning management activities in general that took place in Efacec during 2010, but also those activities concerning its sustainability strategies, policies and practices (these were subject to separate reports in past years). This way, it is possible to have an integrated and direct overview of the aspects that have systematically contributed to the sustainable growth and development of Efacec.
