• The Unit received signifi cant or<strong>de</strong>rs from EWA (Electricity and<br />

Water Authority, Bahrain), through its business partners Balfour<br />

Beatty Engineering Services (United Kingdom) and AREVA T&D<br />

(France), to supply integrated command and control systems for<br />

24 substations (66/11 kV) and extend the integrated command<br />

and control systems in 5 substations (220/66/11 kV).<br />

• <strong>Efacec</strong> received two important or<strong>de</strong>rs from SEC, Saudi Arabia,<br />

through its business partner in Saudi Arabia, the Naizak Power<br />

Systems. The or<strong>de</strong>rs inclu<strong>de</strong> the supply and confi guration of<br />

remote terminal units for 4 distribution substations (33/13.8 kV)<br />

The Unit received two important or<strong>de</strong>rs from SEC - Saudi Electric<br />

Company (a company from Saudi Arabia) through its business<br />

partner in the country, Naizak Power Systems. The or<strong>de</strong>rs inclu<strong>de</strong><br />

the supply and confi guration of remote terminal units for 4<br />

distribution transformers (33/13.8 kV). SEC is the main provi<strong>de</strong>r<br />

of electricity in Saudi Arabia, with an installed capacity of 45 000<br />

MW, power transmission grids with 43 000 ckm in length (circuitkilometer)<br />

and electric power connections reaching 364 000 ckm<br />

in length. The fi rst or<strong>de</strong>r comprises installations in two existing<br />

substations (Faisaliah and Musadiah) and one new substation<br />

(Khalidiah), all located in the region of Ar’Ar, at the Northern<br />

bor<strong>de</strong>r of the country. The second or<strong>de</strong>r comprises installations in<br />

one new substation located in the Al Midnab area.<br />

Maintenance<br />

• The year of <strong>2010</strong> faced an adverse economic outlook, particularly<br />

the Iberian industrial sector. However, it was possible for the<br />

Maintenance Business Unit to maintain its lea<strong>de</strong>rship position in<br />

the domestic market, keeping or renewing its major maintenance<br />

contracts, in particular with customers such as BRISA, OGMA,<br />

CLC, PEGOP, EDP - Renováveis, EDP Distribuição, REFER, Lisnave,<br />

Futebol Clube do Porto - Estádio, Sporting Clube <strong>de</strong> Portugal -<br />

Estádio, Sport Lisboa e Benfi ca - Estádio, José <strong>de</strong> Mello Saú<strong>de</strong>,<br />

Hospital Garcia <strong>de</strong> Orta, SAMS, Centro Hospitalar <strong>de</strong> Lisboa<br />

Central.<br />

• Simultaneously, other activities were <strong>de</strong>veloped along with new<br />

contracts with a signifi cant set of customers, in particular the<br />

Global Maintenance Contract with the oil refi nery in Sines for<br />

Galp Energia (in partnership with the Servicing Business Unit),<br />

the Maintenance Contract with Parque <strong>de</strong> Armazenamento<br />

<strong>de</strong> Combustíveis Porto Brandão (fuel storage facilities), the<br />

maintenance of equipments from the oil refi nery of Porto, an<br />

operation and maintenance contract with the new fl ue-gas<br />

<strong>de</strong>sulfurization facilities of the Thermal Power Plant in Sines for<br />

EDP, the assembly of a packaging and palletization lines for the<br />

new paper factory of the Portucel Soporcel Group in Setúbal,<br />

as well as yearly revisions of the factories of Soporcel in Setúbal<br />

and Cacia, the general suspension for maintenance work of<br />

equipments from Cimpor, the Information Systems for the NATO<br />

Summit in Portugal, the maintenance contract of ONI’s stations,<br />

the operations and maintenance contract of the Funicular dos<br />

Guindais (funicular railway) for Metro do Porto and, in the health<br />

fi eld, the maintenance contracts with Hospital <strong>de</strong> Braga and<br />

Maintenance Service<br />

Hospital CUF Porto, as well as the revamping of the Thermal<br />

Power Station of the Maternida<strong>de</strong> <strong>de</strong> Júlio Dinis.<br />

• Equally important is the consolidation of the partnership with EDP<br />

Distribuição for the maintenance of 74 Substations in the central<br />

area (ACE EME2) and another partnership with EDP Renováveis for<br />

the maintenance of wind farms in Portugal and Spain.<br />

• It should also be mentioned the <strong>de</strong>velopment of audits, energy<br />

certifi cations and quality control of indoor air in facilities and<br />

health markets, initiated in 2009, taking advantage of the<br />

opportunities from the new legal framework.<br />

• Regarding certifi cations and qualifi cations, the Unit renewed<br />

the certifi cations regarding Quality, Environment and Safety, the<br />

permits from INCI and the environmental certifi cation of ACE<br />

EME2.<br />

• In information systems, the Unit <strong>de</strong>veloped and consolidated the<br />

use of a single software platform for maintenance management.<br />

• The Unit continued its maintenance contract of the Power<br />

Dispatch Center of Algiers, Tipaza and Boumerdès.<br />
