Organizational and Management Model
Efacec is a Portuguese company present in nearly 65 countries
over the 5 continents, with industrial facilities in 9 countries and
including, by the end of 2010, over 4500 employees and a business
volume above EUR 1000 million.
In terms of management models, 3 Business Areas (BA) were
established according to the fi elds in which the company wishes
to compete. In each of them were identifi ed Business Units (BU),
which are managed autonomously.
The 3 BAs are: Energy; Engineering, Environment and Services;
Transports and Logistics.
The BUs (a total of 10) are the following:
• Energy area: Transformers BU; High and Medium Voltage
Switchgear BU; and Servicing BU;
• Engineering, Environment and Services area: Engineering
BU; Automation BU; Environment BU; Maintenance BU; and
Renewables BU;
• Transports and Logistics area: Transports BU and Logistics BU.
This is the “product” dimension of the adopted management model.
Regarding the geographical dimension, the Group established 7
worldwide regions, which are called Market Units (MU).
These MUs are comprised by geographies considered to be part of
Efacec’s strategy and priorities. As such, they are referred to as
“Efacec Markets” and in each of them the company attempts to
replicate all its Business Units.
As a result of this management model, the Group adopted a
corporate model based on a matrix structure composed of 10
Business Units (BUs) and 7 Market Units (MUs) with regional
structures in the “Efacec Markets”, which are responsible for the
cross-portfolio development in those geographies.
The international market also includes an area called Rest of the
World (RoW) with the aim of identifying business opportunities and
coordinating commercial resources shared by businesses outside the
scope of the “Efacec Markets”.
