Servicing
• Important maintenance and revamping contracts of power
transformers and high voltage disconnectors were obtained
from REN, in Portugal, in particular the reconditioning of a
360 MVA, 400 kV transformer in the substation of Riba d’Ave,
the reconditioning of a bank of three 150 MVA, 400 kV singlephase
autotransformers in the substation of Rio Maior and the
revamping of high voltage disconnectors in the substations of
Pereiros, Pocinho and Sines.
• Important orders were made for the supply of several 160 MVA,
220 kV single-phase transformers, as well as orders for the
local maintenance and repair of transformers with the same
characteristics.
• Also important were the maintenance and repair contracts for
power plant alternators, in particular, the repair of the 3.5
MW alternator from the Power Plant of Penide of EDP and the
revamping of the 92 MW alternator from the Power Plant of
Mequinenza in Endesa, Spain.
• The continuation of the commissioning of Power Transformers
supplied to the market of Spain, including the repair of power
transformers for Endesa Geração, as well as the repair of medium
and low voltage substations and the maintenance of on-load tap
changers for Gas Natural/Union Fenosa.
• The successful conclusion of the certifi cation of the Servicing
Unit, carried out by Lloyds in accordance with Norms ISO 14001
and OHSAS 18001.
• A seminar on “Maintenance of Electrical Machines and
Equipment” was promoted with the purpose of demonstrating and
disseminating the most recent maintenance techniques regarding
Power Transformers, Medium Voltage Switchgear and Rotating
Machines. Over 70 customers participated in the seminar.
Engineering
• REN - Rede Eléctrica Nacional, S.A. adjudicated to the Efacec the
construction of the general electrical installation of the Substation
of Tavira 400/150/60 KV. This is a substation of great importance
for REN and for the energy distribution grid, given that this will
reinforce the connection with the Spanish grid with 400 kV.
• The Sonae Group, through Integrum Colombo Energia, adjudicated
in a consortium created by Efacec Engenharia e Sistemas (79%)
and Ambitermo (21%) the order for an Electromechanical and
Civil EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) of a new
Cogeneration Power Station for the Colombo shopping mall located
in Lisbon. The purpose of this new Power Station is to generate
both electric energy to supply the main network and thermal
energy (heat and cold) for internal consumption of the building.
It will be comprised of two groups of GE Jenbacher generators,
JMS 620 GS-NL model, with a unit output of 3.3 MW, 2 absorption
chillers with a refrigeration power of 1.8 MW and respective
auxiliary mechanical and electrical systems. The service provided
by Efacec Engenharia e Sistemas includes the execution of the
foundation engineering, supply of main equipments (generators,
chillers and electric equipment) and construction and assembly of
electric equipment.
• The Unit, through its subsidiary Efacec Contracting Central
Europe (Austria-Viena), won an important tender for an EPC
(Engineering, Procurement and Construction) concerning three
150 kV high voltage substations for the Greek company Public
Power Corporation (PPC). This turnkey project, with a deadline of
26 months, includes the supply of Power Transformers, Automation
and Medium Voltage Switchgear manufactured by Efacec in order
to equip the substations of Epidavros, Pyrgos and Aiginio.
• The Unit signed a local energy supply contract with the
province of Cabo Delgado, located in the Northern coastline of
Mozambique. The contract includes the electrifi cation of this area
of Mozambique, from Mocímboa da Praia (border with Tanzania)
to Palma (100 km of Pemba) with approximately 125 km of 33 kV
power line and low voltage distribution in neighbouring villages.
• The Unit signed an agreement with EDEL (electrical company
from Luanda). EDEL and Efacec celebrated an agreement for the
supply of equipments, services and solutions in the fi eld of Energy.
Acknowledging the strategic importance of Southern Africa, with
particular focus on the Republic of Angola (where Efacec has been
present since 1967), and by giving continuity to the long-term
interest and activities shared by both groups, this agreement is
the corollary of the will to establish a mutual agreement between
both parties.
• The Unit signed an important agreement with EDM (electrical
company from Mozambique) for the Revamping and
Reinforcement of the Energy Grid in Maputo (lot 2) for the
expansion and remodelling of the substation in Maputo, which
includes the supply and assembly of a 400 kV transformer control
panel (including a 400 MVA – 400/275 kV transformer, 400 kV
interconnecting busbars, a 400 kV busbar extension, a 275 kV
power line panel and a second 275 kV busbar). The contract also
includes the rehabilitation of the substation of Infulene, with the
supply and assembly of a 250 MVA – 275/66 kV transformer and the
