• In June, CTS – Companhia de Transportes de Salvador signed a
contract with Efacec do Brasil for the supply and assembly
of an integrated ventilation system for the Salvador Metro,
approximately amounting to EUR 4 million. The project will last
12 months and will become the fi rst reference obtained by Efacec
with this important customer.
• Two large technical/commercial bids were made for the tenders
concerning the monorails of Manaus and São Paulo (Line 17), which
together surpassed the amount of BRL 100 million, associating
Efacec do Brasil to important Brazilian construction consortiums.
• The Unit was contracted by Companhia Paranaense de Energia -
COPEL for the execution of a project comprised by two complete
bays of 500kV as a turn-key job for the substations of Araraquara
II and Taubaté, located in the state of São Paulo. Efacec will be
responsible for carrying out all business activities, from basic
engineering, executive project, supply of every high voltage
equipment, public constructions, electromechanical assembly,
protection and control system, telecommunication, commissioning
and electrifi cation of the whole system in accordance with the
standards established by ONS and ANEEL for a basic grid.
• The Unit, in accordance with the contract signed in May 2007,
became responsible for the expansions of lines B1 and C1 of the
light metro of Dublin - LUAS (a contract with an amount over EUR
31 million), through a consortium of civil engineering companies
that, during the fi rst half-year of 2010, won another expansion of
this light metro – Line A1 (Red Line to Citywest), this time directly
adjudicated by the end-customer, RPA – Railway Procurement
Agency.
This new contract, inherent to the construction of line A1, with an
extension of 4.2 km, includes the supply of all electromechanical
Dublin Metro
systems (energy substations, control and command, catenary,
telecommunications, signalling, safety and public information) for
the six new Stations. Efacec becomes responsible for the design
and construction of Electromechanical Systems for three line
expansions of the Dublin Metro, as well as the integration of all
stations (in a total of 56) with a new Management and Operation
platform, installed in the new Command/Control Centre, already
in operation and with 100% Efacec made technology.
• The inauguration of the new extension of the light metro network
of Dublin, LUAS B1, interconnecting Sandyford to Brides Glen
with a total of 7.5 km. This important project cost nearly EUR
300 million and was concluded three months before the initially
anticipated date. This allows the operator to transport more than
2 million passengers per year. With a total of 12 new stops, 4
traction substations and 8 road/railroad crossings, this new
extension of the LUAS includes a signifi cant amount of Portuguese
engineering provided by Efacec (responsible for the project,
supply, installation and commissioning of all electromechanical
systems, namely, electrical supply systems, signalization,
telecommunications and remote control). Efacec was also
responsible for supplying the embedded communications system
of 16 new Citadis 402 vehicles and for replacing the previous
command and control center by the EFARAIL platform, providing
a better response to the growing demands of this operation. The
environmentally sustainable development of the city of Dublin will
continue to count on Efacec’s contribution, which is estimating
the conclusion of another line for the emblematic Irish public
transportation system by the second half-year of 2011.
