• The Unit received an order for the supply and installation of
an order preparation and transport system for the new Sonae
Distribution Center, “Fashion Division”, located in Azambuja.
Besides having a signifi cant value, this order also represents the
fi rst project from Efacec concerning package preparation and
automatic sorting systems. Nowadays, the tendencies of the
logistics market are increasingly leaning towards the distribution
of small packages, so this is an absolutely strategic project
for Efacec, since it will lead to future operations of this kind.
The order preparation and transport system will automatically
separate 6000 units and 2500 boxes per hour, stocking up 180
stores simultaneously and unloading four containers automatically
in 20 loading docks. The preparation of orders will be made by
“picking” the unit and box per each customer and through a
“batch” for a group of customers that will then be completely
separated automatically.
• In turn, Sonae Distribuição adjudicated to the Unit the supply of
an automatic transport and pallet picking system for temperatures
of -25ºC, which will be installed in the distribution center of
Maia, making this the second system installed by Efacec in an
environment for handling and storing frozen products. With this
order, it is expected that new projects in the fi eld of automatic
sorting and picking will arise.
• The Unit won a tender to design and supply a remote management
support system to Águas do Minho e Lima, now called Águas
do Noroeste. Efacec will be responsible for implementing a
telecommunication system comprised by three fi bre optics
communication networks, video surveillance system and power
supply systems, namely solar panels and UPS. Efacec will also
carry out every work concerning infrastructures to support
telecommunications.

• Asian Paints, the largest paint manufacturer in India has recently
adjudicated to the Unit an Automatic Pallet Storage for the
Distribution Center of the factory of Patancheru in Hyderabad.
The scope of the contract consists in supplying and commissioning
three double-depth transelevators (cross lifts), shelf, pallet
transport system and a sophisticated management system for
storage and movement. This order is an addition to the ones
obtained from other Indian companies, namely Kansai Nerolac
Paints, Cadila Healthcare (pharmaceutical) and Airport Authority
of India (air cargo). This way, Efacec reinforces its leadership
position as a supplier of automatic storage and movement
solutions in this market, with more than thirty projects carried
out in the last years. Of these orders, it is especially important
the one obtained from the Airport Authority of India for a
distribution center of air cargo for the Chennai airport. It is the
largest automatic storage in India, with a wide range of supply,
from more traditional equipments such as shelves and containers,
automatic fi re extinguishing system, fi ve transelevators and
conveyors, to innovative solutions such as a sorting system
based on RGVs (rail guided vehicles) and a storage management
system adapted to the rigorous safety and screening standards of
products.
• NEXT, one of the largest manufacturers and distributers of home
products in England, adjudicated to its Unit the construction of
its new distribution center, located in Doncaster. The scope of the
project includes the supply of an automatic storage with eight
sections and a capacity for 27 000 pallets, within which move
5 transelevators (cross lifts) with a switch-point mechanism,
section equipment, a large loading/unloading conveyor system
and a Warehouse Management System.
• The Unit signed and international agreement with the German
Weidmüller Group. This Group, a worldwide specialist in
interface systems, which includes 3450 employees and is present
in 80 countries, with 10 factories and 23 subsidiaries, among
them the Portuguese Weidmüller Sistemas de Interface, S.A. For
more than 20 years, Efacec has kept a national agreement with
the German Group, being its biggest customer and, at the same
time, its biggest supplier of interface systems. Thus, this 3-year
agreement represents a direct cooperation of the companies’
Investigation and Development departments, making Efacec the
fi rst Iberian partner of Weidmüller, providing access to the 80
countries in which the Group operates.
• The Unit supplied and installed an automated pallet movement
and storage system by using LGVs (laser guided vehicles) in the
PROCAP factory in Luxembourg, dedicated to the manufacture
of plastic caps and which operates continuously. The system
includes three LGVs associated to a management and supervision
system also developed by Efacec to ensure the fl ow of materials
inside the factory during production and dispatch.
