Power Plant - Nacogdoches Power, a recent project from Southern
Company, in Texas.
Currently, 24 other transformers are currently under production
for different customers, such as: BG&E - Baltimore Gas & Electric,
Florida Power & Light, Western Farmers, MIDAMERICAN, ENTERGY,
ETESAL – El Salvador, EDEL – Angola, North American Power Systems –
NextEra, Georgia Power and Mississippi Power (companies associated
to Southern Company). Equally important is the production of this
factory’s fi rst transformer intended for export, specifi cally, for El
Salvador. Currently under production is also the largest core-type
transformer ever built by Efacec: a 260 MVA GSU, with 230 kV of
high voltage, for a power plant of renewable energies belonging to
The end of 2009 marked the beginning of a new phase for Efacec
operations in Brazil, now with its new headquarters located in Vila
Mariana, São Paulo. The change of headquarters was developed to
achieve the goal established by the Executive Committee to reduce
the use of resources and create sustainable conditions for the
Group’s growth plans and corporate guidelines.
At the same time, this change will improve the identifi cation and
integration of the employees (now 90) occupying this space.
The new headquarters are located in an area with 1150 m² and
greatly improve the work environment for the benefi t of employees,
partners, customers, suppliers and other interested parties.
Vila Mariana, the site of Efacec do Brasil’s new headquarters, is
located in an important and privileged area of the city of São Paulo,
close to the fi nancial center of this metropolis and its natural lungs
– the Ibirapuera park.
Presently, Efacec has two manufacturing units in Córdoba (Argentina):
an Assembly Center and a Components Center for products from the
Switchgear Unit.
Due to the favourable business environment, in October 2010
construction works began with the purpose of linking both
manufacturing units.
This goal is expected to be concluded by July 2011. With the new
infrastructures in operation, Efacec Argentina will have a greater
capability to meet the customers’ demands.
In 2010, Efacec completed the purchase of another company in one
of its target markets. This time, Efacec acquired 75% of the share
capital of Fasymon, changing the company’s name to Efacec Equipos
Electricos, S.L.. This new company of the Efacec universe includes
20 employees and is located in Sta. Barbara, Catalonia.
Efacec Equipos Electricos, S.L., will be dedicated to the production,
marketing, installation and entry into service of Substations, an
activity developed in the scope of the Medium and High Voltage
Switchgear Business Unit. Since 2005, as Fasymon, this company
carried out operations in Spain and in the Autonomous Regions of
Catalonia, Valencia, Navarra, Castile-La Mancha, Madrid, Castile and
León, Basque Country and Cantabria.
Central Europe
In Central Europe, Efacec acquired three companies to support
its projects in the fi eld of renewable energies. In Bulgaria, Efacec
purchased the company Bezmer Energy OOD, in the scope of the
construction of a 4 MW photovoltaic park, and the company Rujitsa
Wind, in the scope of an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and
Construction) project for a 32 MW wind farm and with an yearly
production of 83 000 MWh. In Slovakia, Efacec purchased the
company Sun4Energy LC, in partnership with REE-Raiffeisen Energy
& Env. for the construction of two photovoltaic parks (4 and 2 MW),
with a production of nearly 6400 MWh/year.
India
In 2010, Efacec India Private Limited (EIPL) was created with the
purpose of coordinating the activities and expansion of all the
Group’s companies in India. The location of this company’s offi ces
was also selected, placing its headquarters in New Delhi.
The business model of the Switchgear Unit is similar to the car
industry, where an assembly line is surrounded by independent
suppliers working on that line.
In 2010, Nashik, located in the state of Maharashtra, completed
the cluster of local suppliers and activities concerning this Unit,
in both Portugal and Argentina, basically developing a trading
activity capable of supplying the several Medium and High Voltage
Assembly Centers from Efacec. From its facilities based at the Nashik
Engineering Center – a technological center for the metalworking
industry – Efacec coordinates monthly shipments, monitors the
development of new components and ensures their quality.
Nashik currently supplies commands for SF6 switches, ground
disconnectors, springs, stainless steel expansion tanks, galvanized
steel sheet structures, switchgear, injected resin components,
machined/cast parts, vacuum circuit breakers and many other
components. Nearly 15 containers of components are already being
shipped to Portugal. Likewise, the Assembly Center in Argentina will
follow the same process as Portugal.
