Shell states, “Evaporation associated with the processing facilities accounts for
about 2% of total water consumption. There are no plans to reduce such
evaporation.”
49a Why did Shell include “reducing losses to evaporation” in its water management
strategies list if there are no plans to reduce such evaporation?
Response 49a The conceptual design took into account minimizing losses and developing an
efficient production facility. Currently, there are no plans to make changes to the
project’s conceptual design. However, during detailed design and operations
there will be further opportunities to potentially improve on the overall efficiency
of the process, including reducing losses to evaporation.
Request 49b Where and how could Shell implement this water management strategy (reducing
losses to evaporation)?
