Unencrypting Domain Manager Boot Files
If you have encrypted the Directory Service boot file and its container boot file, you must
decrypt them for the duration of the upgrade process. (Whether you have encrypted the
Directory Service store is not relevant—the decrypted DS boot file will contain the
appropriate DS encryption password if it is encrypted.)
You need to know the password that encrypted the boot files.
You will restore these encrypted files as-is after the upgrade has completed successfully.
Note You may want to use explicit paths for the location in the following commands and files.
◆ To temporarily decrypt the Domain Manager’s boot files:
1. Open a command prompt in the Domain Manager’s working directory, typically
C:\Program Files\Progress\Sonic\Containers\Domain1.DomainManager.
2. Create a subdirectory named encrypted.
3. Move the files ds.xml, container.ini, and set_encryption_pwd.* into the encrypted
directory.
4. Enter the following commands:
■ On Windows, enter:
..\..\MQ8.5\bin\pbetool /m decrypt
/c container.ini
/e encrypted\container.ini /p pwd
..\..\MQ8.5\bin\pbetool /m decrypt
/c ds.xml
/e encrypted\ds.xml /p pwd
■ On UNIX/Linux, enter:
../../MQ8.5/bin/pbetool.sh -m decrypt
-c container.ini
-e encrypted/container.ini -p pwd
../../MQ8.5/bin/pbetool.sh -m decrypt
-c ds.xml
-e encrypted/ds.xml -p pwd
The active boot files are decrypted, and the encrypted files are in the encrypted folder.
