Using the Administration Tools After Installation
Important Actions Requiring Initialization of a Broker’s Data Store — Before management brokers
start accepting management communications and messaging brokers start accepting
message traffic, you should review whether your configurations to see if you need to
make any adjustments that require you to initialize a broker’s data store.
Review and adjust the following parameters and consider the following actions on new
broker configurations:
● “Broker: Enabling Security on an Installed Messaging Broker” on page 98
● “Broker: Resetting Quality of Protection (QoP) Cipher Suites” on page 99
● “Broker: Enabling Broker Security Without Enabling Quality of Protection” on
page 100
● Changing the broker name
● Decreasing the size of the recovery log (You can make it larger later, but you cannot
decrease it later without re-initializing the store.)
● Modifying the type of data store parameters
These actions require initialization of the data store. Each of the following procedures
shows the remote techniques you can apply through the management console for
messaging brokers as well as the onsite technique using dbtool and an edited db.ini file.
For some actions, such as the changing the broker name, and changing the security
option, you might consider uninstalling the configuration and then installing again with
your preferred name and security option.
Note The following procedures are applicable to management brokers as well but you will
need to use direct connection to the directory service and initialize the data store with
dbtool. See also “Domain: Resetting the Administrator Password” on page 96.
