Phases of Upgrades from 7.5 and 7.6 to Sonic 8.5
Phase II: Upgrade the 7.5 or 7.6 Domain Manager to 8.5
The first steps of a Domain Manager upgrade are specific to the type of Domain Manager:
● Sonic Workbench
● SonicMQ Development
● Deployment Domain Manager
Note If your deployment Domain Manager is a fault-tolerant management framework, go
directly to“Upgrading a Fault Tolerant Management Framework” on page 211.
Establishing a 8.5 Sonic Workbench on a 7.5 or 7.6 System
Important The existing Eclipse environment needs to have fully started and gracefully shutdown so
that it creates the settings files that the upgrade procedure uses.
◆ To establish the 8.5 Workbench location:
1. Stop the Workbench’s Eclipse environment.
2. Stop the Workbench’s Domain Manager.
3. Stop the Sonic Management Console.
4. Use the Sonic Installer to create a new installation location for Sonic Workbench on
the same system as the 7.5 or 7.6 installation. “Installing a Progress Sonic
Workbench” on page 76.
5. Enter your Sonic Workbench 8.5 license key.
6. On the Configure Installation Type panel, select the Do not configure domain at this
time option. The other values on that panel will be ignored, so click Next.
7. Choose an Eclipse. Choosing an existing Eclipse will determine whether it is
supported.
8. Choose a Java VM. Choosing an existing JVM will determine whether it is supported
Java Runtime Environment.
9. Click Install and complete the installation.
10. Proceed to “Extracting the 7.5 or 7.6 Domain Manager’s Properties” on page 193.
