Chapter 8: Upgrading from 7.5 or 7.6 to 8.5 Establishing a 8.5 SonicMQ Development on a 7.5 or 7.6 System ◆ To establish the 8.5 SonicMQ Development location: 1. Start the7.5 or 7.6 Domain Manager you want to upgrade. 2. If you have any 7.5 or 7.6 Sonic Management Consoles running, shut them down. 3. Use the Sonic Installer to create a new installation location for SonicMQ Development on the same system as the 7.5 or 7.6 installation. “Installing SonicMQ for Development” on page 82. 4. Enter your SonicMQ 8.5 license key. 5. On the Configure Installation Type panel, select the Do not configure domain at this time option. The other values on that panel will be ignored, so click Next. 6. Choose a Java VM. Choosing an existing JVM will determine whether it is supported Java Runtime Environment. 7. Click Install and complete the installation. 8. Proceed to “Extracting the 7.5 or 7.6 Domain Manager’s Properties” on page 193. Enter your Sonic 8.5 license keys. You must enter SonicMQ 8.5 key. Add ESB, and BPEL Service keys if they are available. 5. Phases of Upgrades from 7.5 and 7.6 to Sonic 8.5 Extracting the 7.5 or 7.6 Domain Manager’s Properties To extract the properties of the Domain Manager: 1. Open a console window to the 8.5_install_root/MQ8.5/bin location. 2. Enter: upgradeProps -url conn -d domain -u user -p pwd -f file -rt secs /ds_path where: ■ -url is a connection URL on the Version 7 management broker Note ● For a SonicMQ Development or Domain Manager upgrade, the Sonic 7 connection URL is in the form protocol://host:port, where a default installation would use tcp://localhost:2506. ● For a Sonic Workbench upgrade, the Sonic 7 connection is a direct access to the stopped Directory Service—the installation path to the Directory Service boot file, typically sonic7_install_dir/MQ7.n/ds.xml. ■ -d is the domain name. The default value is Domain1. ■ -u is an administrative user in the Version 7 domain (typically, Administrator) ■ -p is the administrative user’s password (optional if security is not enabled) (For a Sonic Workbench upgrade, enter the ds.xml password if it is encrypted.) ■ -f is a preferred output file name (default is upgrade.properties) ■ -rt is the number of seconds that the script will wait to invoke a methods on the Directory Service before timing out. (default is 60 seconds) ■ /ds_path is the Directory Service location of the container that hosts the Directory Service in the Version 7 domain (typically, /Containers/DomainManager) The process runs, creating a text file in the 8.5_install_root/MQ8.5/bin folder named upgrade.properties (or the name you specified in the -f parameter) which contains the Version 8 license keys you entered and the explicit file system path to the Domain Manager’s management container. The upgrade properties for Domain Managers and non-Domain Managers are listed in “General Properties in an upgrade.properties file” on page 200 and “Container-specific Properties in an upgrade.properties file” on page 202.
