1. Start the 8.5 Sonic Management Consoles, or administrative tools.
2. Connect to the upgraded domain.
Results of a Domain Manager Upgrade
The Domain Manager container and the components it hosts are all 8.5.
The following components were upgraded automatically to 8.5:
● WebService Protocol configurations
● Component Collection configurations
● Container Collection configurations
● Agent Manager configurations
● Directory Service configurations
● Authentication Domain configurations
● Authentication SPI configurations
● Management SPI configurations
● Authorization Policy configurations
Installing Administration Tools for Deployment Domain Administrators
For deployment domains, the administrators with systems independent of the installed
Domain Manager, install the appropriate set of Administration tools as soon as possible.
See “Installing Administration Tools” on page 91 for installation instructions.
Phase III: Upgrade 7.5 and 7.6 Components To 8.5
Container-based components maintained in the 8.5 domain can be upgraded from 7.5 or
7.6 to 8.5 as time allows. The 8.5 domain supports all 7.5 and 7.6 container-based
components, and the zero-downtime feature of 8.5 enables clustered and replicating
brokers to cooperate during their series of upgrades.
The Version 7 and 8.5 handling of containers and upgrades require understanding of the
following container concepts:
● Root containers — The 7.5 and 7.6 containers that are launched by the 7.5 or 7.6
MQ7.n/bin/startcontainer script are root containers; also containers launched by a
Windows service.
● Working directory — In 7.5 and 7.6, the single container start script meant that the
container boot file could be anywhere on the system, and the original startcontainer
