Creating a Runtime Infrastructure
When you choose Sonic Administration Tools on the “Sonic Installer’s Choose
Installation Type panel” on page 74, the next panel is Progress Sonic License Keys.
Tools do not require any license keys.
Important It is a good practice to install all the tools. Connection from an Administration Tools
install to domains such as Sonic Workbench will not access products for which tools
are not installed locally.
SonicMQ tools and the Sonic Deployment Manager (with its sample models) are
always installed with Sonic Administration Tools.
Note The Sonic Deployment Manager installed with Administration Tools is the complete
toolset; however, the underlying assets that enable creation of a directory service are
not available. As such, updateDomain performs as expected, but cleanDomain will
remove an existing domain manager on the local machine that is in the the SDM’s
install location, as well remote containers in that domain. It will then fail to create a
new domain. You might want to remove the SDM cleanDomain command on
administration-only machines.
