Domain: Resetting the Administrator Password
After you install a Domain Manager with security enabled, every container’s connection
information must specify valid administrative credentials. The best way to expedite use
of your preferred user name and secret password is to change the password of the user
Administrator.
You could also create a new user assigned to the Administrator group (but you cannot
delete the user Administrator.) Use the modified administrator credentials on new broker
installations and be sure to update the container.ini in the management broker’s working
directory with the new credentials (otherwise INAUTHENTIC_CLIENT errors occur.)
The following procedures describe resetting the password for the Administrator user
record, as well as creating a new administrative user, and then updating every container’s
connection password, and every administrative tool connection.
◆ To reset the password for the default user, Administrator:
1. Start the Sonic Management Console and connect to the domain.
2. On the Configure tab, expand the Security folder.
3. Expand Default Authentication, and then select Users.
4. Right click on the Administrator user, and choose Properties.
5. In the user properties dialog box, select the General tab, and click Set Password.
6. In the Set Password dialog box, enter your preferred password for the Administrator
user, and then click OK in both dialog boxes.
◆ To create a new administrative user:
1. Continuing from above, right-click Users, and then select New User.
2. Enter a new user name, such as Container_Admin.
3. Click Set Password, and then enter and confirm the password for this user.
4. Select the Group Memberships tab, choose Add, then select Administrators.
Important This is a sensitive point in this task. Continue to setting the new password on container
configurations, and on management tool and administrative client connections. Until you
reconfigure the Domain Manager’s container, you cannot restart it.
