Chapter 7: Upgrading Version 8 Domains and Tools
Phase II: Install Tools for Deployment Domain Administrators
For deployment domains, the administrators with machines that will connect to the
Domain Manager remotely, install the 8.5 Administration Tools as soon as possible. See
“Installing Administration Tools” on page 91 for instructions.
◆ To administrate a Version 8.5 Domain Manager:
1. Start the Version 8.5 Sonic Management Consoles, or administrative tools.
2. Connect to the upgraded domain.
Phase III: Upgrade 8.0 Components in the 8.5 Domain
Container-based components maintained in the Version 8.5 domain can be upgraded
through the Sonic 8.5 Management Console.
Important Version 7 components in an 8.0 Domain — If you updated a Domain Manager to 8.0 but
retained version 7 installations and managed components in the domain, ones that are
7.5.n or 7.6.n must be upgraded through the Version 7 to Version 8 steps described in
“Phase III: Upgrade 7.5 and 7.6 Components To 8.5” on page 195. If you have earlier
7.0.n installations, they must be upgraded to 8.0 and then to 8.5.
The procedure below describes an upgrade of an independent broker configurations. It
applies equally well to ESB services.
Upgrading Deployed Version 8 Containers and their Components
The Sonic Management Console makes it easy to upgrade remote Version 8 deployments.
◆ To upgrade an 8.0 container and its components:
1. Start the Version 8.5 Sonic Management Console, and then connect to the 8.5 domain.
2. On the Configure tab, locate an 8.0 container configuration you want to upgrade.
