e materiche, dando vita a forme inedite
Pierre Charpin, Bjorn Dahlstrom, Rodolfo Dordoni,
Nathalie Du Pasquier, Gordon Guillaumier,
James Irvine, Jasper Morrison e George J. Sowden.
formale, disegnando 140 pezzi, raccolti
DESIGN CHOOSES
PORCELAIN
Pamar believes that design is the pivot of corporate
identity, the creative drive that turned a small item
such as a handle for furniture into a detail with
innovative expression possibilities. Over twenty years
ago the company started down an original research
and experimentation path, in which design is
the basis of its identity. The company is today one
of the reference brands in the sector of Italian
furniture. The Porcelain collection, with
Gordon Guillaumier as design supervisor, is one
of Pamar’s most significant steps on the path
of design and innovation. It brings back
the traditional art of porcelain making and gives
it a new, contemporary interpretation, rising
to project-related and material-related challenges
and breathing life into unusual shapes, in which
practical function and aesthetics blend
in harmonious balance. To execute this complex,
fascinating project, which made its debut last year
at Palazzo Crivelli in Milan, during Fuorisalone,
Pamar involved eight designers who are famous
in Italy and abroad. Pierre Charpin, Bjorn
Dahlstrom, Rodolfo Dordoni, Nathalie Du Pasquier,
Gordon Guillaumier, James Irvine, Jasper Morrison
and George J. Sowden developed an individual
formal language and they created 140 items,
grouped in 16 families of products.
In this collection, handles become poetic and
distinguishing features on the furniture, as well as
being suitable for the purpose they are made for.
TRADIZIONI RECUPERATE
DAL PROGETTO ALL’OGGETTO
RESCUED TRADITIONS
FROM THE PROJECT TO THE OBJECT
With the Porcelain collection, Pamar brings back
the great tradition of porcelain making and gives
it a modern interpretation. It came perfectly
naturally to the company to refine the production
of this collection in China, the land of porcelain.
It is additional cultural wealth, added value that
must emphasised and not hidden. It is part of
a vision without limitations, a tradition of handicraft
art at the service of industrial design. The different
kinds of manufacturing processes increased the
difficulties associated with mass production, such
as the techniques to check deformation and
material shrinkage (caused by the high
baking temperatures), the strength tests
performed on every item, the induction
of craquelure, the double printing
of colours to create depth patterns,
the creation of borders to disrupt
the minimalism of shiny white china.
