and four (2) movements.
The overall characteristics of Tubins symphonic style are: the importance of the
original idea, the rhythmic pulse, and the clear structure, coherence of the formal structure,
contrapuntal texture and great orchestration skill. Tubin is a traditionalist and classicist at heart, but
completely independent in his melodic and rhythmic aspects, which makes his music personal.
Estonians are very proud to have a great composer such as Tubin. Even though he
lived in Sweden nearly 40 years, he never felt himself totally accepted. In the later years his music
has been played many places all over the world. There is no doubt that Tubin deserves a place in
contemporary musical history, still his music awaits discovery by the world.
