ALLIED HEALTH<br />

ALH 102—Introduction to Physical Therapy. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2 Credits<br />

This is a web course that introduces the student to the profession of physical therapy and the<br />

concepts of the total patient. Current issues in health care that impact physical therapy are investigated.<br />

It provides information about the role of the physical therapist assistant in terms of<br />

professional, legal and ethical standards. It also provides an introduction to the concepts of disability,<br />

cultural diversity and ethical decision-making. Part of this class requires the student to<br />

complete 12 hours of observation in a physical therapy setting under the supervision of a registered<br />

PT or PTA. This experience will be documented and satisfy one of the course requirements<br />

as well as serving as one of the admissions criteria. Open to all students. F, SP<br />

ALH 118—Terminology for Medical Communication . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2 Credits<br />

This is a web course that allows the student to use a combination of learning tools to gain a<br />

sound background in medical terminology. This will allow the student to communicate effectively<br />

with other health professionals.<br />

*ALH 254—Human Cross-Sectional Anatomy . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3 Credits<br />

A study of the human body in a cross-sectional context. Emphasis will be placed on major<br />

anatomical features and radiologic landmarks. Students also explore soft tissue details as resolution<br />

allows. This course will serve to prepare students for conventional tomographic radiology,<br />

computer tomography, position emission tomography, magnetic resonance scanning and<br />

ultrasonography. (Crosslisted with BIOL 2540) Sp<br />

*This course does not meet any curricular requirements for any program, with the exception of<br />

the technical requirement for the A.A.S. General Technology program.<br />

ANTHROPOLOGY<br />

ANTH 2150—Native American Studies . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3 Credits<br />

A general survey of native American cultures with emphasis on cultural development, diversity,<br />

and comparative analysis. Topics include prehistory, social organization, kinship, politics,<br />

religion, and material culture, as well as discussion of current Native American concerns.<br />

ART<br />

ART 101—Studio Fundamentals: Drawing . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2 Credits<br />

Development of observational skills and perception of reality. Fundamental aspects of drawing—line,<br />

tone, space, form, and composition. Primarily for art, architecture, interior design,<br />

and art education majors. Additional work may be required outside class.<br />
