This course is a general survey and analysis of the history of the state of Tennessee from the<br />

beginning of statehood in 1796 to about 1990. There is also a pre-statehood component that examines<br />

Native American history in the region (with an emphasis on the Cherokees) and the history<br />

of exploration and early settlement.<br />
