CST 103—Computer Presentations. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3 Credits<br />
Students learn the art of designing, creating, and delivering sophisticated and professional<br />
computer presentations using PowerPoint 2003. Presentations will include sound, video,<br />
charts, graphics, hyperlinks, and other enhancements that will illustrate their topics. Although<br />
the course is offered online via WebCT, students are required to attend two live class meetings<br />
to deliver presentations. (Prerequisite: COLL 1020) F, Sp<br />
CST 105—Database Management . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3 Credits<br />
First of a 3-course DBMS Certificate series, DBMS I Master MS Access, creating customized<br />
forms, reports, and data access pages. Focus is on terminology, object creation, data manipulation<br />
and integration with other applications. Although this course is offered online via<br />
WebCT, students may attend a weekly lab if they wish. (Prerequisite: COLL 1020) F, Sp<br />
CST 108—Web Fundamentals . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3 Credits<br />
This course introduces students to the Internet and Web Page Authoring Fundamentals. In the<br />
Internet section, students learn how to use key Internet technologies, such as Web browsers,<br />
e-mail, newsgrous, file Transfer Protocol, Telnet and search engines. In the Web Authoring section,<br />
students will be able to create Web pages containing text, graphics, hyperlinks, table,<br />
forms and frames. They will also learn to use Cascading Style Sheets and study the basics of<br />
Extensible Hpertext Markup Language, JavaScripts, Dynamic HTML, and the Document<br />
Object Model. This course in conjunction with CST 216, Networking and PC Repair, prepares<br />
students for the CIW Foundation Exam. (Prerequisite: COLL 1020) F, Sp<br />
CST 109—Introduction to Programming . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3 Credits<br />
Students will learn the basic principles of object-oriented programming (OOP) and how to design<br />
and develop programs using Java. Topics include OOP concepts such as: classes, objects,<br />
methods, inheritance, encapsulation, and polymorphism; program design using the Unified<br />
Modeling Language (UML). Students will also learn Java language elements and syntax for<br />
class definitions, variables, methods, data types, operators, control structures, and strings.<br />
Learning will be enhanced through in-class exercises and programming assignments. No previous<br />
programming experience is required. (Prerequisites: academic development requirements<br />
in reading and math, COLL 1020) F<br />

This course provides a general overview of the C programming language. Topics include program<br />
design concepts for procedural languages; pseudocode as a design language; C language<br />
syntax; standard library functions; user written functions; C data types; working with variables;<br />
C language constructs for repetition, iteration and slection; assignment statements; arithmetic,<br />
relational and logical operators; pointer; indirect addressing; arrays; strings; and creating and<br />
reading data files. Strong emphasis is placed on developing good programming practices and<br />
adhering to programming standards. This course is offered online only through WebCT.<br />

CST 135—Spreadsheets . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3 Credits<br />
This course is designed to introduce students to the fundamental operations that can be performed<br />
with a spreadsheet. Topics include: spreadsheet design and formatting; using formulas<br />
to calculate the sum, average, max, min, and count; displaying charts and graphs from the data<br />
using absolute and relative cell addressing in a spreadsheet; and manipulating to and from multiple<br />
spreadsheets. Students will use the spreadsheet software, Microsoft Excel 2003. The<br />
course is offered online only through WebCT. (Prerequisite: COLL 1020) F, Sp<br />

Introduces students to services and information featured on the Internet, with an emphasis on<br />
using the Internet effectively for research. (Prerequisite: Adequate keyboarding and computing<br />
