This course will discuss the fundamentals of the preparation of sterile fluids as well as how to<br />

handle these in a sterile manner. Laboratory exercises will introduce the student to good compounding<br />

and aspects, techniques, training in appropriate labeling of products and preparations<br />

as well as the maintenance of proper documentation will also be provided.<br />

PHAR 1140—Basic Medical Terminology for Pharmacy Tech. . . . . . . . . 2 Credits<br />

This basic medical terminology course will provide the framework needed for those seeking<br />

to become a pharmacy technician. The course will focus on the components of a medical term<br />

and how to break down a medical term by prefix or suffix, additionally, medical terms as they<br />

relate to body structures and body systems will be covered. F<br />

This is a clinical rotation which provides the student practical hands on experience. The student<br />

will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist in a hospital and/or a<br />

health care center.<br />

This is a pharmacy clinical rotation which provides the student with practical experience in a<br />

retail setting. The student will work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist in area retail<br />

PHYSICAL EDUCATION<br />

The goal of RSCC’s wellness-related physical education classes is to optimize the<br />

quality of life for all students. The classes are designed to teach students ways to reduce<br />

their risks of disease while improving their levels of fitness.<br />

PHED activity classes meet twice a week for the entire semester, with the exception<br />

of the video course. Challenge exams and/or credit by proficiency exams are NOT<br />

given for PHED activity classes.
