ThemeetingbeganonWednesday22AprilandranuntilFridayafternoon24April. Therewere34<br />
participants,23ofwhomspokeand7presentedposters.Almostallparticipantsstayedforthecomplete<br />
durationoftheWorkshop.Thefocuswasonthestructure,spectraanddynamicalpropertiesofquantum<br />
aggregates.Fromtheenormousactivityinthisarea,interestwasconcentratedonthreeratherseparate<br />
fields,namely,molecularaggregates,aggregatesofpolaritonsinquantumwellcavitiesandaggregatesof<br />
Rydberg-excitedcoldatoms.Inthecaseofmolecularaggregatesthereweretwomainthemes;thestudy<br />
ofthephotosyntheticunitandthestudyofdyeaggregatesforuseinorganicsolarcells.Inthemolecular<br />
andatomaggregatecases,thetransportofelectronicexcitationovertheaggregatewasofparticular<br />
importance. About70thespeakerswereseniorscientistswhohadparticipatedintheAdvancedStudy<br />
Groupsometimeduringtheprevioussixmonths. Accordinglythegrouplargelyknewofeachothers<br />
workandthisledtoalivelydiscussion. Inthisrespectthescheduleof30minutetalksfollowedby15<br />
minutesdiscussiontimeprovedenormouslysuccessfulandcertainlytoberecommended. Severaltalks<br />
weregivenbyyoungerscientists,e.g.thetwocontributionsonpolaritonsfromLondonandCambridge.<br />
Alsosuccessfulweretheoralpostertalkspresentedasapreludetothepostersessionitself.Twoofthese<br />
presentations,bydoctoralstudents,wereoutstanding. TheWorkshopendedwithadiscussionsession<br />
onFridayafternoonattendedbyaroundtwentyparticipants. Thishadtheaimofassessingtheresults<br />
oftheWorkshopandplanningforthefuture.ThemajorresultsoftheWorkshopemergedas:<br />
1)therecognitionthat,despitethevarietyoftopicscovered,fromthetheoreticalpointofview,the<br />
systemsareverysimilarsothatthedisciplineQuantumAggregatescanbeviewedasanestablishedfield<br />
cuttingacrosssolidstate,atomicandmolecularphysicsandchemistry.<br />
2)theenormousadvancesinexperimentalprecision(30%oftalkswerefromexperimentalists)represent<br />
agreatchallengeforthetheoryofsuchcomplexsystems.<br />
3)thegeneralconsensuswasthattheimpetusgainedfromtheASGandWorkshopshouldnotbewasted<br />
andthebenefitsofbringingtogetherworkersfromfieldsasdiverseasphotosynthesisandcoldatoms<br />
shouldnotbeunderestimated. Suchmeetingsandopportunitytolearnofadvancesinotherfieldsare<br />
rarebutcanleadtosurprisinglyfruitfulcollaboration.Manyparticipantsexpressedthedesiretocontinue<br />
thisactivityandmanyoptionswerediscussed,e.g.afurther mpipksWorkshop,ameetingfundedbythe<br />
HeraeusFoundationorVWStiftungand,fortheGermanparticipants,aDFGSchwerpunktprogramm.<br />
Certainly,theWorkshopwasaveryappropriatewaytoendtheactivityoftheAdvancedStudyGroup.<br />

Thefieldofquantumfluidclustersisstilldominatedbyworkonheliumnanodropletswhichmadeup<br />
themainfocusofthisworkshop. Theseofferafascinatingpossibilitytostudyquantumpropertieslike<br />
e.g.superfluidityinfinitesizesystems.Acomprehensivetheoreticalunderstandingofsuchpropertieson<br />
thenanoscaleaswellasadetaileddescriptionoftheinteractionswithdopantatomsandmoleculesand<br />
thedynamicsofthesystemsarestillmissing. Workinthiscontextisstillinprogressandthemeeting<br />
succeededinbringingtogetheralmostallexpertsinthefield.<br />
Acoupleoftalksconcentratedontheshort–timedynamicsfromdifferentpointsofview,i.e.XUV–<br />
excitationsofpuredroplets,ultrafastprocessesonthedropletsurfaceaswellasviolentinteractions<br />
