connectingthespectacularmanifestationsof“movingtogether”inlivingsystems, beingoneofthe<br />
mostrelevantmanifestationsofcollectivebehaviorinnature,andthatthecorrespondingbigpictureis<br />
likelytoemergefromameetingliketheCOLMOTworkshopinDresden. Oneimportantgoalofthe<br />
workshopwas,whichhasindeedbeenachievedthatthemeetingwasattendedbythebesttheoreticians,<br />
experimentalistsandmodelers,physicists,biologists,andmathematiciansworkingonthesubject. In<br />
particular,I.Couzin,R.Goldstein,H.Chat,CMarchetti,S.RamaswamyandD.Sumpterareworldwide<br />
acknowledgedleadingspecialistsintheirfield. Beyondnewtheoreticalinsightsfascinatingexamplesof<br />
