takingplaceinKoreain2011.Weconsiderthefruitfulandintensivediscussionsamongallparticipants<br />
asasignofbroadeningone’shorizonsandthesuccessoftheworkshop.<br />

WorkshopsontheDualNatureoff-electronsareorganizedbythesamegroupbiannuallysince2006.<br />
ThefirsteventwasorganizedinSantaFe,NM,USAin2006,nextin2008atthesamelocation.This<br />
yearwemovedtoDresdeninordertoattractthebroaderspectrumofEuropeanscientists.Thenumber<br />
ofspeakerswentupfrom18in2006and17in2008to36inthecurrentedition. Thisnumberproves<br />
thatDresdenwasanexcellentchoice,withaguaranteedbroadparticipationofscientistsinvolvedin<br />
f-electronresearch.Theconferenceistraditionallyfocusedontheissuesoff-electronmaterials.<br />
Justtolistafewparticipants,wenotethetalkbyZacharyFiskonquantumcriticality,a”blackboardpresentation”byGertrudZwicknaglontheduallifeoff-electronsandGerryLander’sonneutronscatteringinf-electronresearch.WealsohadaprivilegetolistentoPeterRiseborough,JohnMydosh,PeterOppeneer,LadiaHavelaandGabiKotliarandseveralotherexcellentpresentations.Dominanttopicswere:<br />
electronicstructureandproperties,superconductivityandmagnetism,newmaterials,Kondophysics,<br />
competinggroundstatesandquantumcriticality. Itisatraditionoftheworkshoptohaveamoreor<br />
lessevenmixoftheoryandexperiment,andtodevotetwoafternoonstotopicalsessionsanddiscussion<br />
panels.Studentsandpostdocspresentedthreetalksandseveralposters,andtheirpresentationstyleand<br />
themessagewereverywellacceptedbytheparticipants.<br />
