Korean Talbot Institute for Biblical Studies (KTIBS)<br />

The Korean Talbot Institute for Biblical Studies (KTIBS) offers a<br />

wide range of non-credit biblical, theological and ministry skills<br />

study courses on Talbot’s La Mirada campus. Its purpose is to<br />

equip believers with biblical / theological foundations essential<br />

for their spiritual growth and teaching God’s Word in their local<br />

churches. It is the goal of KTIBS to assist churches effectively to<br />

be the church in an environment that is essentially hostile to the<br />

message of God’s truth. Courses meet two (2) hours each week<br />

for six (6) weeks. Three different levels of certificates are awarded<br />

to students who have successfully completed the required<br />

courses. Courses are taught primarily in Korean. A current schedule<br />

of courses being offered may be obtained through the office<br />

of the KTIBS director on campus.<br />

Talbot Seminary Wives Fellowship<br />

Seminary Wives Fellowship provides opportunity for growth and<br />

fellowship for wives of seminary students. Preparation for sharing<br />

in a wide variety of ministries for which student husbands are<br />

studying is offered through special speakers, interaction with<br />

faculty wives and events designed to enhance community.<br />

The following are special studies courses to assist students in becoming<br />

proficient in writing skills essential for an effective seminary<br />

education. Specific enrollment requirements are indicated in each<br />

course description.<br />

ttss 500 Theological Writing ................................................................0<br />

Grammar, sentence structure and paragraph development for<br />

theological writing. Critical thinking and composition includ-<br />

ing extracting information from sources, synthesis, format for<br />

written papers. Experience in writing papers in theological<br />

and related areas. A two-semester-hour, non-credit course<br />

required in the first semester of seminary study for students<br />

assigned by the Talbot Writing Proficiency Exam and all<br />

students who have completed the ESL sequence. Students<br />

who do not earn a passing grade in this course must repeat<br />

the course. Fee: A fee equivalent to two semester hours of<br />

tuition is required.<br />

ttss 510 Theological research methodologies .............................1<br />

Research skills for use of library and theological reference<br />

works. Methods of theological writing with emphasis on criti-<br />

cal thinking, persuasion and evaluation. Must be taken within<br />

the first 15 units of study. Required of all M.Div. and M.A.<br />

students, except MACE (see program director). Prerequisite:<br />

Passing score on Talbot Writing Proficiency Exam (TWPE), if<br />

required, or completion of TTSS 500 Theological Writing, if<br />

required, with a passing grade. Concurrent enrollment in TTSS<br />

500 and TTSS 510 is not allowed.<br />
