archaeological evidence. The class focuses on the develop-<br />

A crosscultural comparison of the oral traditions of cultures<br />

including an examination of the major themes, cultural uses<br />

of myth, and the anthropological analysis and interpretation<br />

Survey of native California groups indigenous to the state<br />

at the beginning of the historic period. Environmental and<br />

technological adaptations, social organization, religious sys-<br />

tems, art and culture change are explored in this survey class.<br />

Examination of the cultural adaptation resulting in the growth<br />

of cities, patterns of migration, social effects of urbanization,<br />

relationships to surrounding communities and the growth of<br />

megalopolis internationally. May be repeated with different<br />

anth 430 field excursion: Turkey, Greece and rome .....................4<br />

Examines the archaeological, historical and geographic back-<br />

grounds of Acts, the Epistles and Revelation. The program vis-<br />

its archaeological sites in Turkey, Greece and Rome including<br />

Ephesus, Pisidan Antioch, Corinth, Athens and several others.<br />

Anthropology students will examine the archaeological field<br />

reports from each of these excavations as part of their prepa-<br />

ration. Prerequisite: BBST 110 or consent of the instructor.<br />
