A study of various factors that impact the effectiveness of a<br />

second generation English ministry with a first generation<br />

Asian church. These factors include how immigration history<br />

and family structure shape leadership style and church struc-<br />

ture. Since these structures contribute to on-going conflict<br />

with American societal values, biblical principles are explored<br />

to personally and corporately address conflict resolution.<br />

the community. Special attention will be given to major social<br />

P.C.C., all M.Div. except mission and urban ministries.<br />

ttPt 706 Personal foundations of ministry .....................................2<br />

Focused on the importance of self-understanding for spiritual<br />

and emotional well-being as well as effective ministry to<br />

hurting people, an investigation of the impact of personal and<br />

family history on theological outlook, emotional congruence,<br />

relational attractions and moral decisions. Several personal<br />

assessments as well as one or more therapy sessions are an<br />

integral part of this course. Grading on a Credit / No Credit<br />

basis. Required in first semester at Talbot. Required of M.Div.,<br />

and M.A. students. Fee: $60.<br />
