Talbot Graduate Student Awards<br />

The awards that follow are presented annually to qualified students<br />

on the basis of criteria indicated:<br />

The Audrey Talbot Award in Bible Exposition — To the student in<br />

the seminary who does the best work for the year in the Department<br />

of Bible Exposition.<br />

The John & Jennie Solomon Award in Old Testament — To the<br />

student in the seminary who does the best work for the year in the<br />

Department of Semitics and Old Testament.<br />

The Library Award — To the student completing a dissertation,<br />

thesis or thesis project who, in the opinion of the librarian, has made<br />

the most intelligent and effective use of the Library during the year<br />

of his or her graduation.<br />

The Robert N. Oliver Award in Systematic Theology — To the student<br />

with the best work for the year in the Department of Systematic<br />

Theology.<br />

The Award in Homiletics — To two students in the seminary who<br />

distinguish themselves in preaching.<br />

The Kenneth D. Archinal Award in Christian Education — To the<br />

outstanding second-year student in the Department of Christian<br />

Education.<br />

The Award in New Testament — To the student who has done outstanding<br />

work in New Testament studies throughout the seminary<br />

program.<br />

The Rev. & Mrs. David Doerksen Award in Missions — To the<br />

student in the seminary who does the best work for the year in the<br />

Department of Missions.<br />

The Marge Niquette Award in Bible Exposition — To the student<br />

in the seminary who has done outstanding work in the Department<br />

of Bible Exposition in the final year of training.<br />

The Alumni Award — To a continuing student in the seminary by<br />

the Alumni Association.<br />

The William W. Bass Memorial Scholarship Award — To a second-<br />

or third-year student who has demonstrated a keen interest in<br />

Philosophy of Religion and/or Theology.<br />

The Inez Gooden Memorial Scholarship Award — To a student<br />

who is dedicated to serving our Lord Jesus Christ and who has become<br />

distinguished as a member of the seminary community.<br />

The Gordon Johnson Scholarship Award — To a seminary student<br />

performing well academically in one of the Bible related fields.<br />

The Walker Scholarship Award — Toa seminary student with<br />

special interest and ability in the area of outreach, established by the<br />

International Fisherman’s club.<br />

The Bill Bynum Memorial Scholarship Award — To a Doctor of<br />

Philosophy student in Educational Studies who does exemplary work<br />

in the study and practice of Christian Education.<br />

The Baker Book Award in Christian Education — To a graduating<br />

senior who has distinguished himself or herself in the study of<br />

Christian Education.<br />

The North American Professors of Christian Education Award<br />

— To a graduate student in Christian Education for outstanding<br />

academic achievement.<br />

The North American Professors of Christian Education Award<br />

— To a graduate student in the doctoral program for outstanding<br />

academic achievement.<br />

The Louis T. Talbot Memorial Scholarship Award — To a continuing<br />

student preparing for the ministry who has demonstrated<br />

academic excellence, exceptional Christian commitment and zeal for<br />

practical ministry.<br />

The Baker Book House Award in Theology — To a graduate who<br />

has distinguished himself/ herself in the study of theology.<br />

The Robin Finley Memorial Award in Missions — To a continuing<br />

student preparing to serve on the mission field.<br />

The Zondervan Outstanding Master’s Thesis Award — To the student<br />

who produces a thesis of the highest quality at the Th.M., M.Div.<br />

or M.A. level. The recipient of the award is chosen by a faculty panel<br />

from among all students who submitted a master’s thesis during the<br />

academic year. The student who receives the award has written a<br />

thesis that exhibits a high level of academic research coupled with<br />

a concern to draw out the implications of the research for the life of<br />

the Church.<br />

Charles Lee Feinberg Award — To the senior who best exemplifies<br />

the image of a student at Talbot School of Theology.<br />

David Charles Dunn Memorial Scholarship — To a student who<br />

in God’s strength has overcome challenges to enroll in Talbot School<br />

of Theology.<br />

Dean’s Award — To a student or students who have shown excellence<br />

in academic studies, faithfulness in Christian service, and in<br />

whose life the love of Jesus is reflected.<br />
