semester. spring admission is only open to current F-1 students<br />

transferring from another college / university in the United States or<br />

to students applying through ELSP.<br />

The application process may take 3-6 months. Applicants are encouraged<br />

to apply well before the deadlines. Applicants interested in<br />

financial aid must apply several months before the stated deadlines.<br />

Late applicants will assume expenses for documents needing express<br />

postal delivery to and from the <strong>University</strong>. See ELSP section for<br />

program deadlines.<br />

f I n a n C I a l r e s P o n s I b I l I t y o f I n t e r n at I o n a l<br />

s t U d e n t s<br />

The student must supply information attesting to their ability to<br />

provide United States dollars in the minimum amount required to<br />

support the costs of tuition and room and board, in excess of the<br />

cost of a round-trip fare from his / her native country.<br />

Applicants who do not have the finances to pay all of their expenses<br />

must come under the sponsorship of an approved agency. Sponsorship<br />

must include financial responsibility toward the sponsored<br />

student for the entire cost of the program.<br />

e n r o l l m e n t r e Q U I r e m e n t s<br />

International students admitted to the United States on a student<br />

visa are required by law to be registered as full-time students (undergraduate<br />

students: a minimum of 12 credit units; graduate students:<br />

a minimum of 9 units). Full-time ELSP students are required to take a<br />

minimum of 14 units.<br />

e m P l oym e n t<br />

No off-campus employment is permitted for international students<br />

without written permission of the United States Immigration authorities.<br />

Veterans<br />

<strong>Biola</strong> <strong>University</strong> is approved as a degree-granting institution for<br />

the attendance of veterans under Title 38, United States Code. This<br />

includes the programs covered in chapters 30, 31, 35 of Title 38, relating<br />

also to the education of disabled veterans and war orphans, and<br />

1606 of Title 10. The Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational<br />

Education under the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs<br />

has also authorized the <strong>University</strong> for the attendance of veterans<br />

and veterans’ dependents.<br />

Veterans or dependents of veterans who plan to enroll in the <strong>University</strong><br />

are urged to contact the veteran’s coordinator in the Office<br />

of the Registrar well in advance of registration so that the necessary<br />

arrangements may be made with the Veterans Administration.<br />

Pre-Registration<br />

Pre-registration for the fall semester is held during the months of<br />

April and May, and for the spring semester in October and November.<br />

All students are required to preregister if they plan to return to<br />

school the next semester. Failure to preregister will require a $60<br />

non-pre-registration fee to be paid at the time of registration should<br />

the student decide to enroll for the next semester.<br />

Registration<br />

Students are to register either online or in person during scheduled<br />

registration days. Late registration will be allowed through the eighth<br />

day of class and requires a fee of $60. Registration is completed when<br />

students have completed all of the registration steps including paying<br />

the required tuition down payment. Students will receive credit<br />

for courses officially enrolled through the Office of the Registrar.<br />

Registration is mandatory for Rosemead students in all phases of the<br />

program including students in an internship and those who have<br />

completed all requirements except the dissertation.<br />

Add / Drops<br />

Course registration changes are made in person ($5) by submitting<br />

an add / drop form to the Office of the Registrar or online on<br />

WebReg (free). Courses may be added to the student’s schedule<br />

during the first two weeks of the semester. Late add / drop fee is $15<br />

for each transaction.<br />

Courses may be dropped until the end of the eighth week of the<br />

semester. A student who stops attending a class but does not<br />

submit an add / drop form will not be dropped from the class and<br />

will receive a grade of Unofficial Withdrawal for the course. Courses<br />

dropped during the first two weeks of the semester will not be<br />

recorded on the student’s permanent record. Courses dropped between<br />

the ninth week and the end of the semester will be recorded<br />

with a grade of “UW.” Courses dropped between the third and eighth<br />

week will be recorded with the grade of “W.”<br />
