ing on individual and collaborative thematic investigations.<br />

Advanced study and analysis of graphic design forms<br />

emphasizing sequential systems and pacing. Using a variety<br />

of software applications, students are exposed to all areas of<br />

An intensive, reading seminar focusing on writings that have<br />

influenced contemporary art criticism and theory. Course will<br />

focus on specific authors and/or themes that have impacted<br />

the production and discussion of art within the 21st century.<br />

An advanced course in web site production emphasizing<br />

creative and technical skill development. Students examine<br />

current directions in web site management, user interface<br />

design, information architecture and scripting. Prerequisite:<br />

arts 450 internship ...................................................................................3<br />

Apprenticeship program designed to give students first-hand<br />

exposure to professional artists, designers and art institutions.<br />

Internships individually tailored to meet the needs of the<br />

student. Approved internship experiences require student to<br />

complete between 90-120 hours with one or more mentors<br />

or organizations. Prerequisite: junior standing.<br />

arts 475 Culmination...............................................................................3<br />

Course is a culmination of student’s art practice, critical theory,<br />

and practical survival skills needed to become a professional<br />

artist. Meetings and discussion will focus on the pragmatic<br />

elements of art production: grant writing, press relations, slide<br />

/ portfolio presentation as well as discourse and critique of a<br />

final portfolio and exhibition.<br />

The senior exhibition requires developed artworks based<br />

on an integrated theme. Full statement of intent must be<br />

presented along with visual samples of ideas at the beginning<br />

of the semester, approved and signed by committee. Final<br />

project is exhibited at the <strong>University</strong> Art Gallery. Prerequisite:<br />

senior standing. Fee: $90.<br />
