THE MARK FOR FOREIGN PLATE.<br />

The assay mark under the before-menti<strong>on</strong>ed Orders in Council<br />

of 1904 and 1906 for foreign <strong>plate</strong> is for <strong>gold</strong> :<br />

And for <strong>silver</strong><br />

(St. Andrew's Cross.)<br />

The late Assay Master, ^Ir. Alexander Keir, kindly gave us<br />

copies of the <str<strong>on</strong>g>marks</str<strong>on</strong>g> used at the Edinburgh Office, and Mr. L. D.<br />

Cors<strong>on</strong>, the joint Clerk of this Assay Office, has been good enough<br />

to give us further particulars.<br />

Our thanks are due here again to the representatives of the late<br />

Mr. W. J. Cripps, C.B., for permitting us to include some authorities<br />

given by the late Mr. J. H. Sanders<strong>on</strong> for the Tables of Edinburgh<br />

hall <str<strong>on</strong>g>marks</str<strong>on</strong>g>, the property in which had passed to that gentleman.
