The Group also continued to increase the share of supplies
originating from low-cost countries, which grew from 33% in
2006 to 37% in 2007.
The online purchasing system (reverse bidding) used by Valeo,
which allows it to optimize purchasing prices and withstand price
increases, represented a record amount of more than 1.5 billion
euros in reverse bidding in 2007 (compared to just over 1 billion
euros in 2006).
4.3. Awards
The quality of Valeo’s products and services was recognized
by its customers and institutional partners, testifying to the
Group’s operational excellence.

Valeo won five prizes from Toyota Motor Europe: the Superior
Performance Award in the Quality category, awarded to the
Group; the Achievement Award in the Cost Management category,
awarded to the Group; the Achievement Award in the Project
Management category, awarded to Valeo Lighting Systems; two
Recognition Certificates in the Supply category, awarded to Valeo
Security Systems and to the Valeo Transmissions site at Amiens.
The Superior Performance Award recognizes the level of quality
achieved by the 19 Valeo industrial sites supplying Toyota’s
European plants: these sites have recorded a dramatic fall in ppm
(defective parts per million) and dpm (delivery performance)
over the last three years. It follows the two Superior Performance
Awards made by the same automaker to two of the Group’s
French sites in 2006.
Valeo Unisia Transmissions, a joint venture set up by Valeo
Transmissions and Unisia Jecs in Japan, received the Technical
Innovation Award from Jatco, for the successful launch of a new
torque converter–CVT2-AFO.

In April 2007, Toyota awarded the Angers Division of Valeo Lighting
Systems its Award for Project Management.

At Chennai in India, Amalgamations Valeo Clutch Private Ltd, a
joint venture between Valeo Transmissions and Amalgamations,
received the Q1 award from Ford, and the Design Capability Award
from Maruti Udyog Limited.
The Valeo Engine Cooling Front End Module Division in Uitenhage
in South Africa won the OE Supplier Excellence Award from
Volkswagen for the fourth time in six years. For the second
year running, this Product Family’s Mexican plant at San Luis
Potosi, received a prize from Volkswagen Mexico in the Business
Achievement category.
The Valeo Climate Control Division in Itatiba in Brazil, was awarded
a Quality Achievement Performance Certificate by Toyota Mercosur
for its excellent quality results.
The Electrical Systems Division at Campinas in Brazil won the Best
Supplier Award from PSA Peugeot Citroën Mercosur.
The Valeo Compressors North America Division received the Zero
Defects Award from Nissan North America.
Valeo received the Fiat Silver Award for the remarkable results
achieved by the Valeo Security Systems Handles Division at
Pianezza (exclusive handles supplier for Fiat) in terms of product
quality and contribution to the development process and to sales
performance.
The Electrical Systems Division at Shanghai, in China, won the
Excellent Supplier Award from Weifang Diesel, the Excellent
Cooperation Award from Shanghai Diesel and the Best Service
Award from JAC.
The Electrical Systems Division at Kyung Ju, in Korea, won the Best
Supplier Award from Hyundai Mobis.
