1.2.1. Permanent contracts
Number of new hires on permanent contracts
In 2007, Valeo severely curtailed external recruitment in the
“engineers and managers” and “administrative staff, technicians
and supervisors” categories with a view to encouraging internal
mobility. As a result, the number of new hires on permanent
contracts decreased by 15% across all socio-professional categories.
Engineers and managers accounted for just 17% of new hires, as
against 23% in 2006 and 27% in 2005.

Social indicators
Since the measure did not extend to operators, new hires in this
segment accounted for 76% of the total in 2007, up from 67% in
2006 and 61% in 2005.

Employees on fixed-term contracts occupied 3,112 posts at December 31, 2007, compared with 4,489 in 2006 and 5,991 in 2005.
