plans, transfer, rehiring and assistance measures
Valeo is firmly committed to a forward-looking employment and
skills management policy. During restructuring operations the Group
regularly consults with employee representatives and explores
all possible avenues to finding alternative employment for staff,
including internal transfers, outplacements, initiatives aimed at
finding buyers for divested operations and reindustrialization of
employment catchment areas.
As in 2006, rightsizing programs launched in 2007 involved six
of the Group’s ten Product Families (excluding the Wiring Harness
business, with the exception of the Porriño plant), and a total of 679
employees (727 in 2006). The six Product Families concerned were:

In respect of programs completed in 2007, 462 out of a total of 652
employees found new employment, a rate of 70.8% (compared
with 98.9% in 2006). Internal transfers accounted for 10.8 points of
this figure and outplacements for 12.7 points. Early retirement and
retirement made up another 34.0 points, resignations 12.0 points,
and alternative transfer solutions 1.2 point.
