Section 7: INTRA-DISTRICT ASSIGNMENTS<br />
7.1 Assignments Between Attendance Areas<br />
I. Intra-District Assignments<br />
The following guidelines shall apply to intra-district assignments for elementary, middle,<br />
and high schools.<br />
A. Assignments in Grades K-12 may be made by the home school principal with the<br />
approval of the principal of the receiving school.<br />
B. A student’s residence determines his or her home school attendance zone.<br />
C. Assignments remain in effect as long as the student is in the same school and<br />
other conditions established in policy are fulfilled.<br />
II. Intra-District Alternatives<br />
Detailed transfer procedures and policies are located in the Board Policy Manual,<br />
Transfer Assignments FDB (Local).<br />
A. Assignments in prekindergarten may be granted as long as space is available at<br />
the receiving school. Prekindergarten assignments are granted for one (1) year<br />
only.<br />
B. A student enrolling in a Program of Choice academic program shall designate the<br />
school at which the Program of Choice academic program is offered as his or her<br />
home school. An assignment to another school out of a Program of Choice<br />
academic program is governed by district assignment procedures.<br />
C. A student who transfers and desires to participate in athletics will be subject to the<br />
transfer regulations of the UIL and the FW<strong>ISD</strong>. Parents of students transferring<br />
should contact the director of athletics for explanation of these regulations.<br />
D. A student whose parent or guardian moves out of the attendance area during the<br />
school year will be allowed to continue in the same school for the remainder of<br />
that school year without a transfer.<br />
E. A student whose parent or guardian moves out of the school district during the<br />
school year will be allowed to attend tuition-free for the remainder of the school<br />
year if he or she continues in the same school.<br />
III. Assignment Denials<br />
A. Race or color, whim, dislike for a teacher or principal, and the like are not<br />
considered valid reasons for a transfer.<br />
B. Assignments are granted on a space-availability basis.<br />
