2.27 STAAR EOC Performance Standards (Standards will be set in fall <strong>2012</strong>)<br />

There will be two standards or cut score labels, which will identify three performance categories:<br />

Level III: Advanced Academic Performance<br />

Level II: Satisfactory Academic Performance<br />

Level I: Unsatisfactory Academic Performance<br />

2.28 STAAR Cumulative Performance Score for Graduation Requirement<br />

I. In order to graduate, a student must achieve a cumulative score that is at least equal to the product<br />

of the number of EOC assessments taken in that content area and a scale score that indicates<br />

satisfactory performance, Level II Satisfactory Academic Performance<br />

II. For each of the four core content areas, the cumulative score ≥ n x passing scale score, where n<br />

=number of assessments taken.<br />

A student must achieve a minimum score, as determined by the commissioner, for the score to<br />

count towards the student’s cumulative score.<br />

A. Minimum Graduation Plan Students<br />

1. Cumulative score is based on the number of courses taken for which an EOC exists (for<br />

the courses required for graduation on the minimum plan)<br />

2. Cumulative score requirement may vary by subject<br />

B. Recommended High School Program<br />

1. In addition to meeting the cumulative score requirement in each of four core content areas<br />

(15 EOCs),<br />

2. Students on the recommended high school program have to achieve Level II: Satisfactory<br />

Performance on EOC assessments for both<br />

a. Algebra II and,<br />

b. English III.<br />

C. Distinguished Achievement Program<br />

1. In addition to meeting the cumulative score requirement in each of four core content areas<br />

(12 EOCs),<br />

2. Students on the distinguished achievement program have to achieve<br />

Level III: Advanced Academic Performance (college-readiness components) on the EOC<br />

assessments for both<br />
