A student ineligible to participate in extracurricular activities, but who is enrolled in a stateapproved<br />
course that requires demonstration of the mastery of the essential knowledge and<br />
skills in a public performance may participate in the performance if:<br />
1. The performance is one to which the general public is invited; and<br />
2. The requirement for student participation in public is stated in the essential knowledge<br />
and skills of the course.<br />
9.7 Guidelines for Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) Competitions<br />
CTSO Advisors in each high school may enter CTSO competitions outside the school district within the<br />
guidelines below:<br />
Expenses for each competition will be paid as indicated below by the Department of Career and Technical<br />
Education, 100 N University Dr, Suite SW 180, phone (817) 814-1800; fax (817) 814-1805. Competitions<br />
may be in any CTSO organization, which includes Business Professionals of America (BPA), DECA,<br />
Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Family, Career and Community Leaders of America<br />
(FCCLA), FFA, Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA), SkillsUSA, and Technology Students<br />
Association (TSA). Only students who participate in the competitions will be eligible for expenses to be<br />
paid. Chapter Advisors must request such trips by completing a 910 Form, signed by the principal, to<br />
receive expense money. All 910s should be in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Office (100 N<br />
University Dr., Suite SW180-, 76107) according to the guidelines set forth in Section 9 of this document<br />
OR a minimum of ten (10) school days prior to the competitions not requiring lodging and a minimum of<br />
three (3) weeks prior to the event that require lodging arrangements. Due to the scheduling of progressive<br />
sequential competitions (district, regional, area, state, and national) within a short time frame, it is<br />
understood that the completion of all second semester field trip forms by the February date deadline may<br />
not be possible.<br />
I. Within Tarrant County and contiguous counties (Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Johnson, Parker, and<br />
Wise).<br />
A. A maximum of twelve (12) individual conference registration fees will be paid for students<br />
participating in competition events. Competition entry fees will be paid by the CTSO chapter.<br />
B. Transportation costs will be provided.<br />
C. No food or lodging will be paid.<br />
II. Area/Regional Competitions Within a 250-mile Radius of <strong>Fort</strong> <strong>Worth</strong><br />
A. Entry fees, transportation costs, and food expenses (not to exceed what the District has<br />
specified for food and transportation) and lodging expenses, will be paid for up to twelve (12)<br />
individual student entries per school for participation in area or regional competitions within a<br />
250-mile radius of <strong>Fort</strong> <strong>Worth</strong>. No food or lodging will be paid within Tarrant County and<br />
contiguous counties.<br />
III. State and National Competition<br />
A. All expenses will be paid for students who placed in regional/area competition at the level that<br />
advances to the state or national competition in each category. Permission is to be requested<br />
