A. Only students who are officially entered in competitions may go on trips at district expense.<br />

No alternate competitor’s expenses will be paid. The school should be responsible for<br />

expenses of alternates.<br />

B. Refer to the Board Policy FMG (Local) for more information regarding transportation.<br />

C. Students should be given the expected behaviors for UIL trips.<br />

D. Every school has a maximum limit on the UIL budget for competitions (food, transportation<br />

and lodging). Frequently check with the Curriculum Office at 817-814-2465 as to the status of<br />

your account.<br />

9.5 Student Guidelines for UIL Regional Meet<br />

I. Only those students who have been qualified to advance to the Regional Meet will attend the<br />

meet; no alternates will go to the meet unless they are taking the place of students qualified to the<br />

meet.<br />

II. Students will return in the same vehicle they went in unless otherwise designated or unless<br />

approved before the trip.<br />

III. No one may use private or public transportation either going or coming unless approved before the<br />

trip.<br />

IV. Students will stay in the rooms and in groupings assigned unless changes are approved before the<br />

trip.<br />

V. No telephone calls will be made from the rooms even though the calls may be by credit card or<br />

reverse charge. No pay videos will be used in the rooms, if available.<br />

VI. After arriving at the motel, the vehicles will be used only to take students to and from events or<br />

nearby restaurants.<br />

VII. Under no circumstances will students drive the vehicles. Students will not be given the keys to the<br />

vehicle for any reason.<br />

VIII. The use of alcoholic beverages is forbidden by Board Policy FNCF (Legal).<br />

IX. Students will not be allowed to smoke on any trip. (Board Policy FNCD [Legal])<br />

X. Students are representing their schools and their school district and should conduct themselves in a<br />

praiseworthy manner.<br />

XI. Students should dress in an appropriate manner at all times. Consult the coach/sponsor for<br />

appropriate dress standards.<br />

XII. Sponsors will know the whereabouts of students at all times. Students should inform parents of<br />

the motel telephone number in case of emergency.<br />
