As an agent of the District, an employee, including a student employee, shall not have rights to<br />

work he or she creates on District time or using District technology resources. The District shall<br />

own any work or work product created by a District employee in the course and scope of his or her<br />

employment, including the right to obtain copyrights.<br />

5.9.VI Disclaimer of Liability<br />

The District shall not be liable for users’ inappropriate use of electronic communication<br />

resources or violations of copyright restrictions or other laws, users’ mistakes or negligence, and<br />

costs incurred by users. The District shall not be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, age<br />

appropriateness, or usability of any information found on the internet.<br />

5.9.VII Allocations<br />

Technology will be allocated to meet the requirements and guidelines of the District’s<br />

Technology Plan. All acquisitions of technology, both hardware and software, shall be<br />

reviewed and coordinated by the Division of Technology Department and conform to the<br />

District’s established technology acquisition standards. Exceptions to the standards shall be<br />

reviewed and approved by the District Technology Committee.<br />

5.9.VIII Donations<br />

Technology donations shall be coordinated through the Division of Technology. Donations shall<br />

meet the approved minimum standards. Although donated equipment may be configured to run on<br />

the District wide area network, the Division of Technology shall not guarantee that all Districtapproved<br />

applications will run on the donated equipment.<br />

5.10 Outside Speakers and Consultants<br />

Before a teacher may invite an outside speaker or consultant to make a presentation to a class, he or she<br />

must first obtain the approval of the principal.<br />
