and television stations will be made by 5:30 a.m. that schools will open and buses will<br />

run two (2) hours later than the regular time. Dismissal will be at the regular time.<br />

2. Principals, other administrative staff members, and secretaries report, if possible, at the<br />

regular time; teachers and other instructional staff members should report for work as<br />

close to the regular time as conditions permit for safe travel. No one, unless there are<br />

extenuating circumstances, shall be penalized for not being at his or her work station at<br />

the regular work time.<br />

3. Each principal will implement an abbreviated class schedule which will, under the<br />

circumstances, best serve the pupils.<br />

4. In an emergency, the superintendent or his/her designee will notify the deputy<br />

superintendents, chiefs, associate superintendents and assistant superintendents for<br />

elementary and secondary schools.<br />

II. Principals’ Telephone Committee<br />

I. Principals’ Telephone Committee<br />

A. The principals’ telephone committee has been set up to disseminate emergency information<br />

at night or any other time that school is not in session and rapid communication is necessary.<br />

B. The Assistant Superintendents of the three Learning Networks will notify his/her Directors.<br />

The Directors will notify a select group of Principals and those Principals will call the<br />

Principals in their group. The Principals’ Telephone Committee chart will be disseminated<br />

through the weekly Principals’ Packet.<br />

11.2 Unscheduled Early Dismissals<br />

I. The Principal or Designee Will:<br />

a. Distribute procedure information to each parent/guardian. Refer to the elementary and<br />

middle school sample notification letters with return form, as well as the high school sample<br />

letters in the forms section; and,<br />

b. Keep a current file, as appropriate, regarding parent requests concerning emergency dismissal.<br />

11.3 ParentLink Phone/Email/Text Notification System<br />

The <strong>Fort</strong> <strong>Worth</strong> <strong>ISD</strong> uses the ParentLink notification system linking principals, teachers, parents, students<br />

and the community together through our web portal, email messaging, phone notifications and SMS text<br />

messaging.<br />

ParentLink is a fast and reliable communications method provided accurate contact information for each<br />

student has been entered into the system. Each campus must ensure that all parents have been provided<br />

the opportunity to choose the methods of communication they prefer: telephone voice, email, text<br />

message or all three. This information will be entered by the campus clerk.<br />
